Lessons on Limberg

Alexander Limberg was a Russian reconstructive plastic surgeon who believed that all surgeons, prior to performing operations, should practice their procedures using select materials. Rubber, linen, tin, paper, plywood were all employed by Limberg as a method of experimenting and visualising outcomes.

Lessons on Limberg was a collection commissioned by The Wellcome Trust, involving an artist exploring surgical practice through simulating procedures in cloth. The project formed part of the Skin exhibition at Wellcome Collection in 2010.
