‘Perspectives of the human body in contemporary culture are shifting. Advancements in technologies are allowing us to rethink the corporeal by providing opportunities to augment, grow, track, and sense the body. As a result, a renewed, more conscious, interest in this subject is occurring in design, impacting on the development of new materials, and influencing the construction and design of things.’

OurOwnsKIN was a project rethinking design for the body, with concept development footwear designer, Liz Ciokajlo and computational designer, Manolis Papastavrou. The project developed 3D printed footwear informed by the structure of human skin (Funded by Innovate UK, Makerversity and Ravensbourne University) and co-designed future footwear concepts - working closely with Epidermolysis Bullosa patients (Reboot - Funded by Kings College London).
