Skin as Cloth

Skin as Cloth explores clothing as a metaphor for the cosmetically enhanced body. Created as part of the Surface Bursary Residency at The London Printworks Trust, post-operative compression garments were digitally embroidered and laser etched with extracts from detailed interviews conducted with their wearers. Unique motivations for undergoing cosmetic surgery were revealed, ranging from career enhancement purposes of women working in the adult entertainment industry, to addictive secret surgery of British housewives.

This residency was funded by The Leverhulme Trust.
